The Philadelphia Eagles’ long snapper, Jon Dorenbos, is an accomplished magician who uses humor in his act, and was so impressive on “America’s Got Talent” this week that he moved onto the live shows later this month.

Only one problem: the first live show is the night before Dorenbos is supposed to report to training camp.

Maybe he can learn a trick for teleporting?

It was the second appearance the 36-year old has made on the show this season, and he moved on after artist Ne-Yo hit his “golden buzzer”, sending Dorenbos on to the live rounds.

As he’s introduced, Dorenbos points to his girlfriend and aunt in the audience, and explains that his aunt is actually like a mother – when he was in sixth grade, his father murdered his mother, and it was his mother’s sister that took in Dorenbos and his sister. It was not long after moving to California to live with his aunt that Dorenbos was introduced to magic, and he became obsessed, his new passion helping him after the family tragedy. It’s an incredible story, chronicled here by the Los Angeles Times’ Sam Farmer.

Dorenbos is quite entertaining, as you can see from the clip below. He gets a lot of laughs, and it’s clear he’s totally at ease on stage. It remains to be seen, however, if first-year Eagles coach Doug Pedersen will be as entertained if one of his players has to miss time in camp to appear on a television show.
